A New Phase In Life

Things have changed a lot lately. Thad's now in an infant care centre, due to his grandmother's inability to take care of him for the time being. Fourth day there, and he's still crying like mad. Went there in the morning to take a look at how he was progressing, and he basically cried for the one hour I stood there. He did calm down a bit when I picked him up for a while, though he continued bawling afterwards. Sigh, hopefully he'll get used to it soon. Sleeping peacefully, Thad was, when I went to see him again before heading out for lunch. Hope it continued that way for the rest of the day. The teachers at the centre were trying hard to pacify him, but to no avail. All the other kids at the centre were pretty well-behaved and quiet. I pray that our Thad will be like them soon. Else his mum will have to get ear plugs for the teachers and the kids in the infant care.

Thad And His Eeyore

Been a while since Thad got this for Christmas from his uncle. Finally found the time to convert it and upload to, where else, youtube. Thought it'll be a convenient platform to share on other places later on.

Anyway, Thad's really growing up. Getting heavier as well. Started to walk around on his own, though still wobbly. He's been standing up in the playpen for months now, and been walking about unsteadily in the small rectangular he calls home for the last month or so. And it seems like his vocabulary is starting to build as well. If you can call 'eh-eh-eh' words, which he seems to say to everything nowadays. Before long, I'll have to teach him how to say uncle properly. Not to mention 'watch', as all he says when I show him mine is one loud 'eh'!

Talking Thad

Slight talking mood today, our Thadthad. Kept saying 'ah-bear' when I showed him the wallpaper on my handphone. It had a picture of my girlfriend hugging the teddy bear I got for her. When I showed him the video of the bear nodding with music, he started jumping in his playpen and wanted to grab my phone. Not to mention my specs. To which I told him that I'll bite his fingers if he tried to grab my specs (which I know he'll want to bite). Which I promptly illustrated, and after which he drew his hand away, heh. Seems like he's learning. Want him to learn how to say bye and uncle again as well.

Thad seems to be getting too big for the playpen nowadays. Discovered this morning that he can put his armpits over the railing and climb up with his feet on the side netting.

Thad when he just woke up this morning

As usual, he was watching TV just before I left. Fascinated by the commercials again. Maybe he'll go work in an ad agency when he grows up.

Don't Block The Commercials

This was what my mum told me this morning, when I was trying to get Thad's attention while he was in the playpen. My mum turned on the tv and was watching it and Thad decided to join in, standing in the corner and holding on to the sides to steady himself. Yes, he can now stand, and also walk a bit. He's already turned one, after all. Attracted to watching the moving pictures on the screen lately, he seems. Also to the music from the news on tv. Thus he didn't seem to take too kindly to my obstruction, and grabbed my face and pushed it aside repeatedly. When that failed, he tried to move his head to the side to look at the screen from around my head.

Oh well. Guess he should watch some tv to help develop and aid his talking. Especially when he's finally just called me uncle this morning. Granted, it was one-off, but I'm sure there will be many more instances in the near future.

Preparing for movement

Here he is, prepared for movement. The blue top, salvaged from a toy tortoise, seems to fit his head perfectly. So I couldn't resist taking this picture the other day. And it has saved his head from being knocked against the floor a few times already. Yeah, Thad's getting edgy and is starting to explore the world around him now on arms and feet. Still restricted to the living room though at the moment, with someone nearby to watch over him. Not a good idea for him to head to the kitchen as yet, even with the helmet on. When he's older, perhaps.

Getting attracted to all things shiny, like my keys and wristwatch. Think it's good exercise for him, especially when I move the stuff and he'll turn around and crawl to where it's shifted. Got a video of him following my watch around. Again, still need to find that converter first.

Blah.

New toys

Christmas came and went. Thad's getting more stuff lately, like a new walker from his godma. As well as a baby Eeyore from his uncle.

He seems to love it, and I found out why the next day when I visited him at his play pen. He was happily chewing on the tag attached to the poor Eeyore. Tried to turn it around so that he's facing its head, but to no avail. He just turned it around again and tugged into the tag. Ah well. Thad even managed to grab the plush with his legs and swing it to his chest when he threw it into the corner of the play pen. Got a video of it somewhere, just need to convert it to mpg or something from .3gp first. Hate the format, but can't do much about it as it's the standard format on my phone. Shucks. Will upload the video to youtube or something once it's converted.

Stay tuned.

Spider-Kid

Thad's really growing now. His (rich) mum just got him a green walker, so he's been quite mobile of late. Some days, just blocking his uncle's path out of the door, heh. Other days, he'll be bouncing around in it whenever he's happy.

Then today, I found out that not only can this kid kneel in his play pen, but he's starting to press his palms against the side wall-netting and raise himself up. Cool for a kid who can't even sit or crawl properly. He can only sit when he's leaning against someone or something, or with his hands on the ground. Soon, he'll want to climb all over the place. Slow down, kiddo. Better learn to sit and crawl first.

Still trying to get him to say "uncle".
